Full Stack Java Developer

August 2021 - May 2022

During my last year at Sacramento State, I enrolled in a two-semester-long project course. I joined a group of students, and we found a client who asked us to develop a computer inventory management application to replace their existing one. During the first semester, our client gave us a list of requirements and features they wanted to be implemented in the application. We met with them frequently to discuss the problems they were trying to solve, how the system should function, and what technology should go into it. Then we created UI mockups and database diagrams which were sent to our client for review. By the end of the first semester, we had a detailed list of features, a working UI prototype, and a database schema which we used to start building the application.

During the second semester, we started implementing features, and frequently met with our client to get feedback. I was responsible for setting up network infrastructure, database hosting/development, and implementing features in Java. By the end of the course, we delivered a robust and modern web-based computer inventory application to our client on time. Listed below are some of the technologies we incorporated into the project.

  • Jira for project management and Github for code version control
  • Java Spring Boot for core web application features such as authentication, interfacing with the database, and web server configuration
  • AWS EC2 for server hosting (Linux & Windows)
  • CleverCloud for managed MySQL database hosting
  • Selenium for automation testing
  • Launch4j & Install Forge setup wizard for Windows deployment
